#1. Add Special Characters to Your Bio Name or Caption

Here’s how to use special characters in your Instagram bio using Microsoft Word:

  • Open a Word document
  • Start typing your bio and where you would like to place a special character go to “Insert” and “Advanced Symbol”
  • Here you can browse for symbols you’d like to include, like zodiac signs or arrows. Wingdings, Wingdings 2, and Wingdings 3 from the drop-down menu have the most icons to choose from
  • Add the icons where you would like them in your bio
  • Open your Instagram account on your desktop and go to “Edit Profile”
  • Copy and paste your bio from the Word document to your Instagram bio and tap “Done” when you’re finished.

How to do it:

  • In Instagram Stories, select the image you would like to post (a screenshot or a still from your IGTV video).
  • Tap the link icon on the top right-hand side of your screen and select IGTV video from the Add Link menu.
  • Select the correct video and tap Done in the top right corner of your screen.

Now your followers can go to your IGTV video by swiping up on your Instagram Story.

Now you can select any image to use as your cover icon and it doesn’t need to be published to your stories or added to your highlights reel!

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Open the hamburger menu in the top right corner
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Account
  5. Tap Posts You’ve Liked

#6. Filter and block comments based on keywords

How to do it:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the hamburger menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy and Security.
  4. Tap Comment Controls.
  5. Make sure that Hide Offensive Comments is turned on.
  6. Tap next to Manual Filter to turn it on.
  7. Enter specific words, phrases, numbers or emoji in the text box to filter out comments.

When you turn on comment filtering, it’s applied to both new and existing comments on your posts. When you turn off comment filtering, filtered comments on your posts will be restored.


 #7. Remove old posts from your profile without deleting them

This is possible thanks to Instagram’s archive feature.

How to do it:

  1. Tap …. at the top of the post you want to remove
  2. Select Archive
  3. Tap the Archive icon in the top right corner of your profile to review all archived posts
  4. If you want to restore content to your public profile, simply tap Show on Profile at any time and it’ll show up in its original spot

How to do it:

  1. Open the camera and select Focus among the options under the record button
  2. Take a selfie or switch to the rear-facing camera to snap a photo of someone else
  3. The subject will stay in focus while the background blurs
